Daily Prompt: Linger

The Daily Post Prompt: Tell us about times in which you linger — when you don’t want an event, or a day to end. What is it you love about these times? Why do you wish you could linger forever?

_________

I know it’s a strange place to linger, but I like to linger in the shower. In the shower I can be myself – I can laugh, I can cry, I can sing and shout without judgement. I can close the door on life and let the water soak into my soul and wash my troubles away. When I’m feeling sad or mad or just cold and tired – I seek solace in the shower. It’s the one place where I can take my thoughts and feelings; and know that like, my body they too will be washed clean when I step out.

This is the inside of a drainage sewer for the runoff lake water. I walk past it all the time but this challenge inspired me to stop and look inside.

SHARE YOUR WORLD – WEEK 10

This post is in response to: Cee’s Share Your World challenge:

Describe yourself in a word that starts with the first letter of your name.

K = Kind (on the nice side) = Kinky (on the naughty side 😉)

If 100 people your age were chosen at random, how many do you think you’d find leading a more satisfying life than yours?

Probably a little more than half. Although leading a satisfying life is all about your attitude. I am trying to make my life more satisfying. But, often when I look at other people, their lives always seem better than mine. As they say, “The grass is always greener on the other side”. My life may actually look awesome to someone else 😄.

If you were a tree, would you become a book or furniture? Please describe.

I would hope to become a book. People enjoy and find comfort in both books and furniture. But, the memories of a good book last a lifetime. I would want to be a book that motivates and inspires someone to be and do more. A book that you read and reread and lend to other people but always make sure you get back.

You are trapped in an elevator, who would you want to be trapped with?

Some handsome cowboy who has a strong sensitive side and wants to know everything about me ☺️.

Bonus question: What are you grateful for from last week, and what are you looking forward to in the week coming up?

I am grateful that I was able to help one of my favorite clients prepare for a job interview and that I got to go out walking in the nice weather.

I am looking forward to going out with a friend and meeting some new people at a networking event.

Daily Prompt: Best Friend Lost

The Daily Post Prompt:Tell us the origin story of your best friend. How did you become friends? What is it that keeps your friendship rockin’ after all these years?

_________

Do you have a person in your life who you can completely be yourself with? You know that one person you can show yourself to – your happiness, sadness, silliness, and even your crazy side.

I use to have that person. I considered her my best friend from Junior High till we were in our early 20’s. Although, we are still friends, I lost my “best” friend when I got really depressed and she distanced herself from me. Even though I stuck with her during some of her darkest moments, she decided she couldn’t handle mine.

Now, 20 years later I find it very difficult to “fit in” because I am afraid if I show people the real me, they will end up turning on me too.

I tend to be a person who is by nature very open – sharing my thoughts, feelings, and secrets with those around me. Because I share so much, I have been hurt and disappointed a lot – with each person I trust – I regret.

I seem to be too much for people to take so I don’t have many people in my life. I am learning to talk less, listen more and always turn the attention back to the other person. I figure people can’t fault me for listening and wanting to know more about them. I just wish I had at least one person who could just be there for me.

NaBloPoMo Prompt: Showing Myself

Today’s post is in response to BlogHer’s NaBloPoMo Prompt: Do you feel like you reveal too much of yourself on your blog? Do you think you hold back too much?

One of the reasons that I started blogging was so that I would have a forum to let go and show myself to the world (the good, the bad, and the ugly). But there is something that is still holding me back. Even behind the wall of blogging, I still feel the fear if judgement. But I’m hoping that I will eventually feel comfortable enough to let all of me come out from behind the curtain.

Daily Prompt: Crossroads

Daily Post Prompt: Life is a series of beginnings and endings. We leave one job to start another; we quit cities, countries, or continents for a fresh start; we leave lovers and begin new relationships. What was the last thing you contemplated leaving? What were the pros and cons? Have you made up your mind? What will you choose?

Photographers, artists, poets: show us CROSSROADS.
_________

Sometimes the hardest decision is making no decision at all – standing at the crossroads so to speak. When going one direction may hurt you, but going in the other direction may hurt someone else. The problem is, that if you stand at the crossroads too long… You eventually get run down!

Daily Prompt: Stubborn

The Daily Post Prompt: Are you stubborn as a grass stain or as easy going as a light breeze on a warm day? Tell us about the ways in which you’re stubborn — which issues make you dig your heels in and refuse to budge?

Photographers, artists, poets: show us STEADFAST.
_________

I am a Capricorn – the goat – extremely stubborn. Even my mom says that as a child my greatest fault was that I always had to be right. I hate to admit it but I still believe that if everyone would just do what I said, the world would be a better place.

Over the years I have gotten better. These days I try to avoid sensitive topics like religion and politics when I’m with people whose opinions differ from mine. I never try to push my opinion on others. I know that I am right so if they want to continue being wrong – that’s their business 😉
